New Garmin coach

Afree setting up training plan on connect app

it wasn’t synch to edge 1040, after few restarts finally got it in calendar but trainings are different that in connect app or fenix8

and on edge 1040 Garmin coach widget show no plan

Is there any solution for that except upgrading edge to new or using tacx or fenix8  as primary device ???

Garmin find solution !!!!!!

  • Hi! I had exactly the same issue with my Edge 1040 and Forerunner 955. What partially fixed it was setting the Edge as the primary training device. After doing this, the workouts on the Edge matched the ones from the app. But now my watch is not synchronized and showing old plan…

Also, this isn’t an isolated case - many users have been reporting the same problem for a long time on the forums, so it clearly isn’t something new or device-specific.

That said, it’s honestly pretty annoying. Garmin Coach plans should synchronize seamlessly across all devices linked to the account. Garmin really needs to fix this so the plan automatically stays consistent between Edge, watch, etc.

    Hope this helps Thumbsup

  • I had Edge 1040 and Instinct 2 Solar and later 3 AMOLED. All gave different training suggestions. I reported back to Garmin the nonsense. It is NOT normal to have three sugestions because all the devices use the same system via connect. Their answer was just follow the device is set primary training device and you wear all the trime. So... Put away any faith ...Garmin will not solve anything.

  • But using it like this (Edge as primary device) leads to very frustrating situations like, for example:

Your Garmin Coach has planned a very heavy training for Monday, but your Forerunner measured poor sleep quality during the night and in the morning Coach updates your training to a light recovery one. Then in the afternoon you turn on the Edge in order to do the training, it synchronizes and restores the heavy one because it does not "know" about your poor sleep last night...

This "primary training device" setting does not look like a feature that makes sense. More like a workaround to make Garmin Coach usable when you have more than one device.

Second thing, setting a primary device is not a sufficient solution when you configure cycling coach with strength workouts. You do the cycling workouts on the Edge, but you want to do the strength ones on the watch and cannot because they only synchronize properly to the primary device (Edge in this case).

Garmin, please implement this Coach synchronization properly! It's a very nice and useful feature, but with issues like the ones above it's pretty frustrating to use.
