I think you are in wrong place in the menu.
Sounds like you are actually trying to start a FTP test, which requires sensors.
There has been no explicit FTP test since the end of 2024. Garmin has removed it from the menu.

The Edge also requires the appropriate sensors to set up automatic FTP detection.
My Stats > Power > FTP > ... Auto Detect FTP.
I have these sensors, as automatic detection had already been successfully set up before.
