1040 solar stuck in Loader 28.34 then USB MTP mode

Whenever I try to update my Garmin EDGE 1040 to the latest software version (28.34) it always gets stuck in Loader 28.34 then USB MTP mode after clicking installing the new version.

Ive tried several ways to update my software even thru Garmin Express but it says that my Edge 1040 solar is up to date with OS 28.20

    Try the following.

    Connect to the Edge to the PC 

    Sync with Garmin Express to get the software

    Copy the gupdate.gsp file from the Garmin folder to your PC

    Disconnect the Edge from the PC and power it off.

    Stop Garmin Express if it running

    Now holding down the lap button on the Edge and connect the cable from the PC to the Edge. 

    Keep holding the button down until it enters USB mode. This might take 30 seconds or so

    Now copy the gsp file back onto the Edge in the Garmin folder

    Disconnect the Edge from the PC and see if the update works.

    I tried finding the update.gsp in my garmin folder/s while loaded on the pc but couldn’t seem to find it

    Is there a Garmin\_updates folder on the unit?

    There is no updates folder on my unit. Only an UpdateManager folder

    I have the same issue. After approaching Garmin US and NL, the only recommendation is to exchange the device for eur 200. That for a device which is only 3 years old... Nobody from Garmin was supporting the idea to review the folder structure to review if any corrupted file or whats so ever could be the source.
