Power meter auto calibration toggle - what does it do?

There appears to be a new option (or one I've never noticed before) under sensor details for a power meter.  Separate from the calibration prompt toggle, there is now a toggle on my 1040 for "Auto Calibration".  What does this toggle do?  There is no Garmin documentation I can find that describes it.

Further, this option toggle does not appear until after the power meter is connected for some time, so I surmise there must either be some sort of 2-way negiotiation between the Edge and the PM to see if the PM supports it, or Garmin has an internal lookup for supported power meters.  In my case, I'm using a Quarq AXS 4-bolt spider power meter.  I am also troubleshooting a random power meter drop out, and thus the question.

Thanks!

  • you didnt notice it because that is a "base" feature of the Quarq, just if the powermeter is not activated by rotating, it is not shown in the sensor menu (you checked it now when the Quarq was awake). Everything works good in the Edge. You can turn it off/on from the AXS app too.  the Quarq's autozero is calling the "MagicZero": www.sram.com/.../magiczero-auto-calibration
