Edge 1040. Can’t shut off; can’t stop timer. No widget to top ride

I am new to the edge 1040. I did software updates. Have connected to my radar sensor. I just finished a ride and there is no widget to stop the ride. I tried to power off and device says “turn off timer before powering off”. I swipe down and all I have is profile gps settings etc. I swipe to the map and swipe down and same thing. Super frustrating. Appreciate the help

Use the bottom right button to pause, then you get the save menu.

thanks - I did a hard reboot which saved my ride. which now wont sync to my Garmin Connect app. did software update, sync now, turned on and off multiple times. I dont know, I have no problems with my Fenix watch, this thing seems glitchy.
