Edge 1040 28.20 repeatedly and intermittently dropping and reconnecting to trainer

Since updating the Edge 1040 to 28.20, the 1040 drops and reconnects to the Wahoo Kickr Core trainer. The same trainer maintains a connection to the computer the entire time, so I do not think it is the trainer. Have others been experiencing this issue?

For what it is worth, updating to 28.33 didn't help the situation. It repeatedly dropped the trainer for speed and cadence for probably the first 30 min or so of the hour workout. Seemed fairly stable after 30 min. This was on an indoor training activity. Is there a way to roll back the firmware version to the version before 28.20?
