28 20 wrong grade display

After the update, the 28.20 stable firmware the wrong grade display returns. It was fixed with the previews stable firmware.

  • Thank you for your answer

My 1040 is doing this since the beginning of May.

Today, for example, I rode along the Neckar river, an almost flat tour, usually around 150-200 hm over 50km.

But my 1040 measured over 600 meters.

And the Elevation profile is totally off. It shows drastic Ups and Downs where it is actually flat.

I have done a Barometer recalibration multiple times via gps and dhm.

I deleted the temporary files and synced to Garmin Connect afterwards.

Did a hard reboot by holding down the power button until it reboots.

    Nothing helped.

It never rained during my rides, the battery door was closed all the time while riding and the Barometer opening behind it is very clean.

What are the specific troubleshooting steps you mentioned?

You may take a look at my rides in Garmin Connect and contact me via email.

  • You've covered much of the elevation data troubleshooting we'd normally suggest, in the event your device has a hardware concern you'd need to contact our regional support team for assistance: https://support.garmin.com/

A reliable test is to compare the elevation data from multiple devices during the same ride, experiencing the same riding conditions. This gives us multiple sources of barometric elevation data to compare.

Will do as suggested by you

  • In my case the total elevation is constant over multiple devices on my usual rides (at least after it was fixed it for the 1040 with ome of the latest betas). Using an IQ datafield like sensible grade the gradient is displayed OK as well. This datafield incorporate data from the speed sensor.

But the gradient reading from the original Garmin datafield is a totall mess. On older devices ,(Edge 830 for example) it was not perfect, but better. At least it managed to show values with the correct sign.....

So it is a software problem. Going the way over local support for software problems is usually not helpful at all (they give great support when it comes to hardware problems). Usually it results in them asking for some data and then you never hear anything again. In my opinion this suggestion is just a way to silence the user or keep him busy in hope for a solution for some time...

  • My total elevation and the elevation diagram differs significantly, if not dramatically, from what to be expected.

I contacted Garmin support via the German chat

and they granted me a warranty replacement
