Why is my ftp not being updated?

The FTP on my Garmin Edge 1040 is set at 224, whereas my FTP on my Instinct 2 watch is set at 198. Why isn't my Edge and Garmin Connect updating the FTP to the number on my watch?  Both the FTP's were set automatically by the respective devices, but neither of them have updated in a while.

    probably the I2 is your primary training device and not the 1040, you need to change it in the Garmin Connect (you can set a Primary Wearable and Primary Training Device) . but if you record your trainings with I2 also, better to set the I2 as Primary Training Device also, and in this case the 1040 gets the user datas from I2 (heart rate zones, FTP, etc). i use my FR965 and 840 this way.
