Edge 1040 losing its mind

I have an Edge 1040.Latley it has been acting very strange.

2 weeks ago, while riding it was stuck at 16 MPH andonly change when I stopped.

Last night we did a ride.  When finished it said the ride was 25 miles in distance.  Everyone else was recordting ~20 miles.  I checked Strava and Connect.Garmin and both recorded 25 miles.  I exported the ride from Strava into RWGPS and that showed the correct millage.

Any ideas what is gong on?

Thanks

Ron

  • Do you use a speed sensor?

  • Sorry, I should have added this.  I am using a CREO eBike that connects to my Garmin.

I don't use a speed sensor.  That is the first time I have had that issue; that just happened once.  The mileage issue is new, and I have not ridden the bike since Tuesday night.

  • I'm not completely sure but I would say the wrong speed and distance come from the Creo bike because it functions like a speed sensor.

  • HI Ron

same here for my Specialized Levo (EMTB); I rode yesterday and all of sudden during the ride the speed froze at 22.7km/h

It went up to max 24.0km/h but not above or below; only stopping resulted in a 0km/h

Very strange behavior, I´m trying again these days and hope it´s gone and will show real values again

I wonder why the EDGE GPS has no priority (at least in mileage) over the speed sensor.

  • I have had two rides since then, and the Garmin has been reporting the correct distance and speed. The night it was off, we had four Creo's in the group. I am wondering if there was cross-talk?
