Stuck in "The device passkey is ..."

I haven't used my 1040 in about a month. When I turned it on yesterday a toast kept coming up "The device passkey is ...". I can't get rid of it. X or checkmark buttons dismiss it briefly.

I have tried hard restarting and updating the software and connecting with the app but it's still stuck.

Any idea how to I get rid of it. My device is a brick for now and I couldn't use it for my ride yesterday.

  • Do you have a CIQ field installed which after a trail periode demands paying for it. If so remove it via Garmin Connect

  • Do you mean that your 1040 is always looping ‘the device passkey is: ######’? Mine is doing the same thing and won’t stop displaying the toast message. Do you manage to resolve this issue?

  • This is not a message from your Garmin itself, but from an app or data field you installed.

The trial period is over and the third party software nags you with passkey popup.

If you delete the app or whatever it causes, the passkey popup will be gone.
