why is my 1040 taking so long to charge compared to how it used to be

my Garmin 1040 which is only about two years old is recently taking absolutely ages to charge usually over 12hrs, this cant be right? I also have a couple of friends who are having the same issue with their 1040's

After the latest update my Edge 1040 Solar tock 11 hrs and 4 Minutes to charge from 3 % to 99 %. (not 100 % is used to charge. After another ride it was down to 63 % and to charge to (again) 99 % to over…

ADDENDUM to my earlier message of today (July 11): Saying: "And it would mean 400 minutes or 6 hrs. and 40 minutes for a full charge" should have been

".... may or may not mean ..."

as I stated later that I read somewhere that this type (correcting typo now) of batteries may charge at different speeds during the charging cycle" So if that is true and the charging is slower at the top end (84% to 100%) a total full charge may not take in your case 400 minutes.

Time for some clarification and feedback by Garmin software/battery specialists on this subject particularly if battery effecting changes were including in the latest update.
