1040 stuck on 25.25

I have a new 1040. It is on v25.25 and i cannot get it to update to any later version. If I try and update via wifi or bluetooth it recognises that an update is available (27.14) but simply says "update failed" each time I try. And if I try it via Garmin Express it states that I am "up to date" with v25.25

Any ideas?

I also have an issue where the Garmin Connect menus are in Chinese but I believe updating the firmware will fix this - once I am able to do so!!

Check the Garmin folder and delete the GUPDATE.GSP file if it is there and then try again. This will force the file to be downloaded again.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did this. Tried the update again, and it still fails.

Is there a folder called Garmin\_Updates? if so delete it and try again.

Unfortunately no folder called Garmin\_Updates

The only one similar is UpdateManager

Reading some other threads I have tried disabling wifi and then trying again via Garmin Express. The device syncs ok (according to the Express UI) but still says up-to-date on v25.25

Thank you. I already have logged with them but I'm not getting a lot of useful guidance back, so thought I would try on here.

Will persevere with their investigations and suggestions.

What region, if it’s “new” as you say above and support can’t make it take a software update (there have been several since 25.xx) then it is faulty and should immediately be replaced with a new one under warranty as is your legal right?

I spoke with Garmin on this and they are aware of the problem and are working on a fix.

They will include an additional file as part of the download of the software update. This additional file will allow the software update to be successfully installed.

This only impacts some units.

I'm in the UK. this is the 2nd unit i've had. I returned the first one as it had this exact same issue.
