I have an up-to-date NA unit (26.18). When I go to Map Manager it shows, among others, CycleMap North America. If I click on that it shows 2024.20, 13.6 GB, and a map of Mexico. I was riding around in Canada recently and wondered why the map was awful. There were some faint roads but nothing really useful. When I plugged into Garmin Express on macOS (also up-to-date both on Express and the OS) the maps were broken into smaller sections. Routable Cycle Map of the United States was checked but Routable Cycle Map of Canada and Alaska was not. I added this. It fixed my problem.
Questions:
1. Why the difference between Map Manager on the unit and My Maps in Garmin Express with the unit connected?
2. I thought maps could now be managed by the device over Wi-Fi. However, I was unable to add Canada without Garmin Express. What happens if I remove these consolidated maps on the unit? Will it remove the smaller individual maps in Garmin Express? For now I plan to leave it alone since it works. Just found the difference between unit and Garmin Express, when connected to the unit, odd.
