(EDGE 1040 Solar) Calorie Count Incorrect

I know this has been a topic in the past, but I cannot see if it was ever resolved.

Since the last firmware update, this issue has happened three times:

The total calories from a ride (which are also passed to Strava) are not reflected in the total daily calorie count.

Coincidentally, since the same update, my Edge has also crashed at least once or twice during every ride…

From what I remember in a post from long ago the watch calculates Active calories via built-in HRM. The way to circumvent this is to start a cardio exercise on the watch and connect to the same sensors as the Edge. After you finish the ride, don't save the cardio exercise.

Don't know if it is the solution but give it a try.

thanks, but it is a bit weird.

I ride with the Edge and a HR strap connected. And get a reasonable accurate calories count.

Then I wear the watch, it sync with Connect and end of the day the tot number is off for no reason.

That seems to be the known problem that the watch takes precedence even if you are not wearing it. Maybe some of the workarounds in https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/cycling/f/edge-1040-series/400720/where-have-my-intensity-minutes-gone/ can help you.
