ow to see what Strava live segments the Garmin will use

Checked the first page of results that came up for this question and none seemed relevant - so thought I'd ask.

I can't see any way to tell what Live Segments a Garmin (I have a 1040 solar) will use.      On another popular  platform, if they're marked as a starred segment in Strava, you know they're added to the device because you see your starred segments in a list on the device itself.

I can't see anything similar in the Garmin software.

The context for asking
- I have (climb) segments I've starred that the (sync'd) Garmin doesn't show en route, and I don't know why
- I don't know whether Garmin are choosing to use segments irrespective of whether they're on a route or not
- I can't see which ones the Garmin device has on it

All of which is quite confusing, as it makes it hard to work out what is what (especially the inability to see what has been stored on the device)

My expectation would be that there's somewhere, either in the Connect software, or the device itself that would tell me what is on the device, and that starred segments (I have probably 200-300 - must go check) automatically get picked up and used, irrespective of whether I'm following a route/course or not

Anyone know how this bit of the tech works?

  • Chez moi ça a fonctionner pendant quelques temps, maintenant plus de segment ou quand je passe a cotés

  • You can see the synced Strava segments on the homescreen in the "Training" glance, there is a submenu for segments. But beware that Strava live segments usually only appear when not following a course. The exception is when the course comes from Strava, if you are lucky Strava has included some of your starred segments in the course file.

  • Nicely done. I had asked this elsewhere and been told they weren’t visible (probably just a misunderstanding on the other group). Thanks for this. I can see them there. That’s so much simpler than guessing. As now when I star one I csn check its come across to the device

The course thing … thanks for that .. I can’t quite get my head around why Garmin have chosen not to display live segments on their device (given they’re already in the device and the Garmin knows where it is) just because a route is being followed (or does in some situations, but not others eg the Strava route example). Seems like a strange coding decision

    anyway thanks for replying.

  • Merci pour ces détails, je vais essayer de tester un parcours via strava aussi
