[26.17][1040] random reboots/crashes

hi, i come the 540 thread about random crashes, but since it's closed for new replys, i'll start a new one

i got the 25.24/.25 reboots solved by doin a full factory reset. now those reboots/crashes are back after upgrading from 25.25 to 26.17. but the reboots not only occourring during an activity, also happening while the device is only idle at the main screen.

so yea, guess i'll need to get scared of updates now.

  • Had it happen to me today with v26.18. Battery was at 80+% Slight frown

  • I had a reboot about 35 miles into a ride on 26.18 and I also had a freeze when synching to Garmin Connect at the end of the ride at mile 51. I never had any issue with this on a previous build. I run one ConnectIQ app, which is EdgeAllInOne. EDGE All in One - Connect IQ App Showcase - Connect IQ - Garmin Forums

  • The same here. As has become a habit if you are familiar with the risks of Garmin's upgrades, I applied two hard resets after I upgraded to 26.18. But even after these hard resets my 1040 had many spontaneous reboots/crashes during my two day rides (80 and 110 km respectively).

As often with Garmin's software update policy: one step forward, two steps back. It has became a serious issue, already for a long time. But those responsible at Garmin doesn't care.

  • got the update vom 26.17 to 26.18 and the crashes are back yet again. so i did the 5th (or so) "Delete Data and Reset Settings" in ~2 months and was able to record a activity again - without a crash. haven't restored courses and activity files yet, since i was in a hurry.

fun fact: with the 26.xx release some nasty problem comes up after a factory reset. when restoring the sensors my indoor stages sb20 global sensor is breaking the edge. i get endless popups from the edge about connecting and changing the sensor. so i have to shut down the bike, delete the sensor, and re-add it again.

guess there is a problem with ant+ and/or blutooth, since the sb20 has both.

  • Garmin edge 1040. (26.18).Random reboot during active activity
  • Same thing happened to me.  So tired of one step forward and 2 steps back.

  • I have had the same problem with crashes and several reboots while on rides. This was an issue when I had the Edge 1000 and now the Edge 1040. I am getting tired of this usual condition with Garmin, and I am now seriously considering a Wahoo head unit.
