How to save course statistics

I am a new Garmin edge 1040 solar user. I started my ride by selecting one of my routes I have saved on Strava. I successfully rode the route shown correctly. However, the route I rode and my ride stats are not saved by the computer. Where could I have made a mistake?

Did you also press the "start" button when you started your ride, or did you only select "start course"?

You have made a very good point. I only pressed the course, not the start button, which is probably why Garmin didn't save. Thank you for the information. I will try tomorrow morning.

And press the start/stop button again at the end to save the activity
