Garmin service is a joke. Spent over an hour on phone waiting to be told they could not repair nor replace my garmin 1000 that is defective. Yes out of warranty and happy to pay for repair or replacement but nothing

The 1000 Edge was made over ten years ago. It's unrealistic to expect Garmin to have parts for a unit that old.
So that justifies waiting for over one hour on phone help line and then being told even a simple repair of the rubber button is unavailable in Australia. I would have willingly bought a refurbished one, but that was also not offered.
That model is so old that they don't have refurbished units. Unfortunately, electronics become outdated quickly and companies can't continue to support them.
What an apologist you are for poor service. A similar refurbished unit would be fine at a reasonable price, but no such offer and a big time waste. I have about six other garmin products but will look elsewhere in future.
If you bought a Samsung TV 11 years ago and it broke, would you expect Samsung to give you a discount on a new TV?
As bikepc01 stated, there are ways to repair the button. Aliexpress sells Garmin parts and I've seen on Ebay replacement buttons. I had a button failure on a Edge 705 due to the rubber cover deteriorating and I used a small piece of plastic as a spacer and then covered it with flexible cyan glue. I used it for several years and I just looked at it and the repair is still working.
Hi, I had the same issue with my 1000 Power button melted in the Majorcan sun. My unit was out of warranty so got this from Ali express, it’s a real easy fix, just follow guides on YouTube or just buy yourself a 1040. I have solar and non solar and they’ve never skipped a beat with all my sensors, di2, radar etc.
