Edge 1040 randomly adds time to structured indoor workouts

Occasionally, when completing indoor workouts programmed via TrainingPeaks and automatically imported to the device, the Edge records additional time after workout completion and saving.

So, like, I do a 50-minute workout, right? But it saves as an hour and five minutes. Or sometimes I do an hour, and it says 90 minutes, even two hours! It's totally messed up; probably happens every third time. Anyone else have this problem?

  • My 2 hours outdoor workout today was saved as 5 hours, garmin connect shows: moving time 2:03, elapsed time 2:21 (I had a tire puncture and had to stop to fix it) and total time 5:00. At these point, given the huge amount of issues I’m facing with recent firmware updates, I actually consider this a minor annoyance, I just edited the ride on the app and manually set total time to 2:03 too.

also, I’ve never noticed there are elapsed and total time, anyone know what’s the difference between them?

  • Elapsed time is the time difference between start and finish of the activity, so it includes the time spent fixing the puncture etc. Total time is the time the timer was running. It would be the same as Elapsed Time if there are no pauses during the activity.
