Bad (low) battery experience

Today I had my worst experience with my Edge 1040 so far. Last week I connected the Garmin to my computer to connect it with Garmin Express to force some ConnectIQ updates which wouldn’t update using the app and phone. At the same time v25.25 was installed as I was apparently still running v25.24. All was fine and left the device charging to about 85%.

Had not touched it until this morning and when I powered down(was in sleep) it was at 24% which surprised me But should’ve been more than sufficient for my two hour ride. I’m getting to my bike. I noticed my workout wasn’t synced nor were any of my sensors present. It was like the device was reset. Try turning it on and off again, but it froze on the shutdown screen While I was running late I performed a reset by pressing the power button for 10 seconds and after it was done, all seemed fine again and my workout and settings were all there.

We t about with my ride/workout and got a notification to turn on battery save, I had still 13% or so so figured that wouldn’t be needed. Then suddenly, the device turned off. Turned it back on and it was at 12%. Resumed the ride but then tuned off again by itself. Turned it back in and put it in battery’s ave mode while still at 12%. Strangely after running on battery saver, it showed only 1% of battery remaining and soon shutdown again. Finished the ride, and connected it to a power outlet and immediately showed 12% of battery again. The device was slow to not responsive to touched so had some trouble to stop the ride and save it. Eventually it did but never synced the ride to Garmin Connect, so will probably need tot connect it to my computer to upload the ride manually.

Anyway, to conclude is this type of battery behavior normal to the Garmin cause this is the exact reason I switched from a Karoo to the Edge. Temperature outside was about 0° so not that cold so I would expect a battery to be impacted by this.
