Chinese characters show as diamonds with question marks

Garmin Edge 1040S 

I bought my garmin in USA and am traveling to Taiwan for a bike trip.

I loaded a RideWithGPS route for the trip, and the road names in the Turn by Turn information is not in Chinese but as small diamonds with Question marks inside.

How can I load the chinese language to the garmin so I have a chance to see the names.

    You can't, Garmin produces special Edge versions (called APAC) for support of characters used in asian states. You will need to consult your smartphone parallel to the Edge during the trip.
