Compass / Map Orientation when Slow or Stationary

Since 25.x I have noticed that when stopped or walking (hike a bike) my map screen is usually 90 to 180 degrees off.

I have noticed noticed this previously, and is difficult for line following navigation at low speeds or stopped to check the map as the main part of the screen for route ahead is now inverted.

When moving at speed I assume the GNSS location overrides and all is ok, but weighting when slow or still is wrong as observed on my last 3 rides.

Can anyone else confirm before I file a bug report pls.

I experience the same issue (map orientation wrong when I stop), strangely enough this issue has been acknowledged on the 840 forum:

Hello all and thank you for your participation here.

We are investigating reports of Edge x40 erratic compass performance and have all of the info we need at this time. We expect to improve this behavior and I will update here with new info when available.

I have no troubleshooting suggestions at this time, as calibrating the compass is not expected to correct erratic compass performance.

While riding, the Edge magnetic compass is verified by GPS data (a line between any two GPS points). In other scenarios you could experience erratic compass behavior, such as while stationary or indoors, or near objects that influence magnetic fields.

Thanks for this info from the 840 group -- I've had the last couple of 26.x beta releases and it's not addressed there (yet) so logged a 1040 bug in addition as I think this is a safety issue when trying to hike-a-bike at night on an offroad route.
