Updated to version 24.55 but does not show update for 25.24

I received the update screen for version 24.55 and proceeded with it.

After my Garmin 1040 Solar rebooted, no additional updates were available - in special for version 25.24.

Here are the checks and actions I performed:

Manually checked for updates via Menu > System > About > Check Updates, but the screen displayed a large circle with the message: “No available updates.”
Verified the “About” screen, which confirmed that the current version is 24.55.
Reinstalled Garmin Express (version 7.24.0.0, the latest release).
Attempted the update using a second MacBook.
Restarted the MacBook.
Rebooted the Garmin Edge device.

Unfortunately, none of these steps resolved the issue.

I suspect there might be an internal lock or restriction within Garmin update system preventing the update from proceeding, or something along those lines.

– Has anyone faced this same issue?

Version 25.25 has been released for all x40 Edge devices and contains fixes to prevent the Edge from becoming "stuck" between two versions.

This was a minor error affecting a small number of devices…

I had a similar problem during the early betas, the 24.54 update worked but the 25.xx update failed but without any message or indication. There was an update temporary directory on the 1040 which I deleted…

This came up on another thread and this suggestion worked.

Delete the contents of the Garmin\_updates folder and then try again to find the update.

Are you sure it is on 24.45. I'm not aware a build of that version was released.

MY mistake.. mine now on 25.24. It's been so many updates in a sudden until I'm confused. me bad. =.=. But I've check my Garmin folder and notice mine dont have the _Updates folders. But anyway thanks for everything. Maybe after update to 25.24 it removed the folder.

– To confirm, I'm not using Beta versions, since I don't feel safe to do that as Garmin Software still has several bugs to be solved.

I'm going to attempt the suggestion made by aweatherall and @L.Rouge.
I could see on my computer that folder "_updates" is present at device and it does contain some files there.
I'll move the entire folder "_updates" out (for backup/failsafe reasons) and check for updates again.

I'll keep you posted here!

Hello all!

– I'm back with good news!

I have located the "_updates" folder and moved off from Garmin 1040 Solar.
Afterwards, I connected to Garmin Express and now it showed the update availability for 25.24.

I also noticed that "_updates" folder is not created again after successful update. I mean, under normal conditions, without pending updates, this folder is not kept into device.

Hello all, sorry for the delay over the weekend.

We've done some investigation and it appears that while updating to version 25.24, a problem occurred. Your steps to remove the update files and then sync the Edge again has resolved the error.

If any other users encounter this error, version 24.55 is equivalent to 24.19 (+ improved file system management), and it is fine to continue using it while waiting for the new version.

We are investigating a minor change to prevent the Edge from not-receiving the second, higher software version as part of this dual-update process, and we expect to release a new 25.25 update soon containing a fix to prevent this.

No, this dual-update requires one version to be installed before the latest version.

We do not expect many users to become "stuck" as described here, and are rolling out minor updates to prevent this. Syncing your Edge regularly will give you the latest updates as soon as they become available.
