.bin file

I have recently completed a multi-day cycling endurance event which was recorded on my Edge 1040 solar device.  Upon completion, I was unable to save the file and it just vanished.  I did find the file under the TempFit folder, but it is stored as a .bin file.  Is there any way in which I can recover this file or convert it into a FIT file?

    You mean this file: CptActv.bin.bin ? It is renewed at every new activity and its size is always 0 bytes on my Edge Explore 2 device (software family comparable to the x40 series & 1050). It surely does not contain ride data (0 bytes). Function and purpose unknown.

    Sorry to hear about your issue, I have been very lucky and not lost a ride in 15 years of Garmin use, hopefully I would take a philosophical view and see it as an opportunity to do better on the ride again? Only place I have seen anything is the \Garmin\TempFIT\Activity directory, maybe too late now but have you looked there?
