Epix pro Edge 1040 Solar Extended display

Hello,

I'm Having trouble pairing My Epix Pro to my Edge 1040 Solar.

I follow the pairing process but the watch can't find the Edge even if the edge is in pairing mode and the watch specifically searches for "extended display".

I've tried to reboot both devices a Full power cycle and they are both updated to the last stable FW 

Epix Pro 18.16 Edge 1040 Solar 24.19.

I was able to use that feature on my Fenix 7X and it worked fine.

Once I've upgraded to the Epix it's broken.

Kindley review and advise.

  • I think you need to remove the edge from online connect and then add it back to connect. I believe the edge still thinks it’s connected to the old device so it won’t let anything connect to it. That’s what happened to me when I wiped\reset my edge 1040. I was only able to connect to it once I removed it from connect online and added it back in..

  • I've the same problem but with a Fenix 8. I used the extended display with a Forerunner 955 before. I reset the watch and did a disconnect/connect of the Edge as described by 1182617, but still the Edge doesn't allow/connect to the Fenix 8 :( 

  • Not sure how the online deletion has to do anything with the local pairing. I had already deleted the pairing from the Epix and from the 1040 and tried to re-pair with no success. 

  • I spoke with Garmin. There is an issue on the Fenix 8 that will be addressed. The short term fix is that it takes 3 minutes for the extended display to start transmitting once selected so you need to wait a bit before the pairing should work.

    This does not apply to the Epix. I would suggest contacting  Garmin Support.

  • Indeed, that does the trick. All watch <-> edge extended display actions need around 3 minutes (initial pairing, normal use). Thank you aweatherall!
