With Edge 1040 Series Version 24.19 - Unendlessly and randomly reboots!!

Hi All,

Had to instal

Edge 1040 Series Version 24.19

and notice that the Edge 1040 SOLAR now endlessly and raNdomly reboots whereas before the device was working properly.

I have not ridden so far but during chargin and afterwards I just see things linke this happening while the device lies close to me on the table.

How to solve this issue?

Can I downgrade to previous software version which was OK enough?

I feel like I'm trapped with this stupid update.. and see a lot of comments.

I have no idea what to do and this weeken I have a 200+ km ride so a proper working device would be handy.

Any ideas, please?

Try first from restoring the device to factory settings, just back up your data first:

support.garmin.com/.../

Only if that doesn't help, then consider restoring to an earlier version.

I too am experiencing this issue, not the solar version. If you haven't yet, I suggest contacting Garmin support and logging the issue. Best wishes...

I have the same issue. The solar version is randomly rebooting.

Never had any issues before.

Hoping that Garmin will fix this since i noticed numerous complaints now.

I haver the same problem. Not the solar One. And the values in training mode are also incorrect, they show differences above 10 watts. It usually restarts 2 minutes after starting the activity.

I had also reboots and freezes on a non solar, and I fixed it with a factory restore reset

My 840 rebooted 4 times during my ride today, I lost several segements and the 'overall' ride, and it did it once the other day too, all since v 24.19. It's happened maybe once in the previous 2 years. I agree - it's not a stable release and hope they fix it soon.

I solved the issue with a reset default settings (you need to take some pictures of your activity profiles to recreate it after the reset), then you update the gps with Garmin Express, then recreate your profiles, reparameter the maps then export the routes from Garmin Connect. You will also need to re-pair the sensors. Done yesterday, it worked for me.
No need to use the Delete data and reset settings option.
