24.19 and cadence sensor issue

Hi,

My Edge 1040 is now running 24.19. I can add a cadence sensor (along with other sensors) to the unit without issue.

However, during a ride/activity the unit keeps beeping and notifying me that the cadence sensor is connected, like every 10/15 seconds. I know it is.

Why does it need to keep telling me? I did not have this issue with build 24.18. So is this a bug, a cadence sensor issue or something else?

  • Why does it need to keep telling me?

Very likely because there is an un-notified disconnection before each connection notification, only "connections" are notified not disconnections. So the question is why are there now some many frequent disconnections??

When I have been chasing this question (during a beta) in regard to my "smart" (?) trainer I captured the ANT RX/TX Logs and corrolated the events to "connection" messages and could see a disconnection just before each connection. I feed the data to the developers and the good news was that during the beta releases the frequency decreased and finally stopped BUT that was for the Trainer Control Connection. A lot of people report a lot of disconnections on many devices over many years and some users never see any?? As far as I can work out the disconnections are related to interference from other sensors, phones, active wi-fi (regardless of there being an active connection) .

Is your cadence sensor ANT or BT connection?

    It can be very frustrating

  • Hi,

    Cadence is ANT+.

I spoke with Garmin. They investigated my issue and told me that my cadence sensor was at fault :(

  • What sensor?

I'm using a cheap MooFit speed and cadence sensor with no issues. Was like 10 bucks on Amazon

  • Is this the real lantern rogue from YouTube doing Garmin tech support on the side? Lol
