Syncing Issue with Ride with GPS and Garmin Connect

I've recently encountered a sync issue between Ride with GPS and Garmin Connect.

I've previously pinned routes in Ride with GPS and they automatically sync with Garmin Connect where they show up in the Courses screen in the web app and in the Navigation->Courses screen on my Edge 1040.  Over time I end up with a long list of "Courses" which is a nuisance to deal with on my Edge device.  

I unpinned them in Ride with GPS, but they still remain visible in the Connect web app and on the device.  So, I deleted a bunch of the courses on my device and they are subsequently deleted  in the Connect web app.  However, If I want to reload a Ride with GPS route for riding, I can't get them to re-sync with Garmin Connect by re-pinning them in Ride with GPS.  I've reauthorized the connection between Ride with GPS and Garmin Connect, but the routes still will not re-sync.

Is there any way to reload a Ride with GPS route into Garmin Connect after it has been deleted from Garmin Connect?

  • I think I've found similar issues in the past with third party route planning tools. It's not the answer, but as a workaround, the only thing I can suggest is to import the course into Connect manually, using a file exported from RWGPS. As what would then be a Garmin Connect course, you'd have full control as far as re-sending it to your device is concerned.

  • I am having the same issue. Currently, I am on a 75 day ride across America.  My pinned rout today did not load.  Today's ride was a complete mess!  How can this be corrected.  I have 1 week to go. UGH Garmin!!!
