No Strava Life-Segments while riding a track? How to fix?

Hi,

this bugs me for quite some time and for many firmware updates this has not been resolved: As strava premium user I do have many segments synced to my Edge 1040.

When I just ride a long the segments will be displayed correctly but when I do follow a track they never show up while riding that track.

Do you know how to fix this? Am I doing something wrong?

Is the course you are following created in Strava and synced to Garmin Connect through the Strava/GC integration.

Yes. That is the way the track is synced to my Garmin: created in Strava, marked with a red star and then over the air and via garmin connect (in the background) synced to my Edge. Do you suggest a different route to make it work?

I have made an observation, which might solve the issue. It's a little work-around: When placing a POI, while planning the route in STRAVA like "Coffeebeak" on the track, the Segments are also placed in the displayed list of trackpoints on the Edge 1040 and are also displayed correct during the ride when the segment is entered.

I have experienced this just once, so I don't know if this really is the final solution or just a one-time-experience. I will investigate further this week.

Annoyingly I spotted this last week when I set a long route to a 3hr segment I wanted. Seg came up on the screen as a green line overlay but not as a live segment with its own page and live details whilst on it.

Did some research and came up with this page and terribly convoluted and impractical workaround. Surely if I have a seg starred it should just show/track?
