Courses - Advantage creating in Connect v Strava v RWGPS?

Are there any advantages of creating a course in one system over the other and then syncing it down to the edge units?  Does creating the course IN Strava help with live segments at all?

Speaking of the Strava Live Segments -- Is there any way to sync all segments along a created course so they appear on the edge during the ride or would you have to go in an PIN each of them?

  • Long ago I tried may websites for laying out ride and settled on RWGPS as being the best/easiest to use.  Any of these sites create courses base on the map data they use.  These courses consist of track points....gps coordinates of points along the course, and in some cases, they include "embedded" turn instructions. .When downloaded to an Edge and selected to navigate, the Edge matches up the course points to roads/paths/trails in its map's database and creates navigation and turn instructions based on that.  Years ago, there were significant differences in map databases, so errors could occur.  It seems nowadays they all match up very well so it's rare for routing issues to crop up.  I still mainly use RWGPs to create new routes.
