Best mount for road bikes?

Hello,

I am a soon-to-be-1040-noob, as I am getting a (used) Garmin Edge 1040 for my upcoming birthday.

I own a road bike. Currently using a k-edge out-front style mount with my Edge 830.

I know the Edge 1040 is larger. Are there ay recommendations on which 3rd party mount is best/most appropriate for this larger bike computer?

1040 normally comes with 2 mounts in the box, no need for 3rd party mount

Yeah. The included plastic "out front" mount is a little bulky/clunking looking but works fine.

It comes with a mount that is clunky, K-edge is still the best for aftermarket mounts

Indeed. I just worry that the 1040 will protude out too much(?)

Has anyone ever mounted the 1040 on their stem? eg:k-edge.com/.../

Would that be better?

I have the 1040 on a K-Edge XL, it fits very nicely.
