21.17 and 21.16 Bug? Can someone try to replicate?

Hello folks, if any of you have a moment can you see if you can replicate this issue I have?

Start a ride, mark a few lap positions using the LAP button.
Go to Lap screen and if see all laps are showing.
Stop unit using START/STOP button then power down unit using the Power button.
Turn unit back one, go to LAP screen and see if all laps are shown or only the more recent one.
Restart activity using START/STOP button, wait a few seconds and then attempt to mark another LAP using the LAP button and see if the systems crashes or if everything behaves normally.

This report has been escalated internally.

A workaround in the meantime may be to hit the Lap button when on a different Data Screen as this small change allowed me to use the Lap button without the crash…

It's depressing to see that this 1040, despite the (infrequent) updates, is still not stabilized after 2 years...

Thank you very much for responding. I was on the phone with Garmin Support yesterday and they have access to the video and are aware of the issue. I'm looking forward to a response.

Being that I am not the only user with this issue I guess that makes it more of a firmware bug than something wrong with my particular unit.

I will pass this along to the ticket as well.

Much appreciated. In the meantime, I opted for the alternative option today. I simply didn't turn off the unit. :-)

We wanted to further clarify the current workaround while a permanent solution is worked on. Using the Lap button while on other data screens will prevent the crash, but if you power off the device while mid-activity, you will still lose previously marked laps. There is not currently a way to avoid this other than not powering off during an active activity.
