Why no WYSIWG desktop interface to set up datafields?

Garmin, why is trying to set up customized datafields so hard? The interface on phones is bad, and the interface on the device is terrible - - Garmin, why can't we have a desktop app (or tablet, etc) that let's us select the datafields and then "drag and drop" onto the screens we want? Youtubers like GPLama and DCRainmaker have 15 minute videos explaining how to customize ONE element of Garmins (such as ClimbPro) - - this is crazy!

  • Ha! I'm a first time Garmin user having been using Smartphone apps for the past 16 years (yes,  you read that correct). The Garmin UI is like something from the 20th century!

  • There are many amazing things about the Edge ecosystem, and not in a good way.   I'd be happy if they showed the various screen layouts and what the graphical fields looked like somewhere in the manual or on a website instead of having to try them on the device to find out.

  • meanwhile, on the watches, it's impossible to set an alarm via the app. you MUST use the device itself. you're also unable to change metrics such as power or hr zones on the web, it MUST be done on the app.  so they push the app for some things, web for others, device for still others.

    garmin is wildly inconsistent...

  • The manual for the 1040 is very confusing.  You're  never sure if they are referring to the changing things via the app or direct on the device.
