Help, my 1040 beeps every 5 seconds.

Help, my 1040 beeps every 5 seconds even when all tones are turned off, I just can't find out why, no messages, all batteries good, all sensors connected.

  • I had a similar issue after updating the firmware to 21.16. And on my case, I found out that the bip were coming from my sram sensors (as when i reach the maximum or minimum gear). In fact there is a bug and the Sram reading swap between  the minimum gearing and the actual gearing (Note that boith derailleurs work fine, only the reading is wrong).

I try to compare with my edge 1030 who hasn't been updated and it work fine if I disactivate the Sram sensor on the edge 1040 . When I reactivate the sensor on the 1040, the same bad reading appear on the 1030 !!

I have try the beta version 21.17 but it didn't fix the issue

So I downgrade the firmware toi 19.22 (I couldn't find the 20.19 version) to 19.22  and it work fine.

  • Thank you, you are correct, I have the same issue, mine beeps all the time whatever gear I'm in, but if I disconnect Sram in the sensor area it stops beeping.

  • I found a temporary work around without needing to deactivate the sensor! You can turn off the tones for SRAM independently in the "Sensor Details".

I have an AXS Eagle XX1 RD and now I can see the gears and battery life without the constant tones, as well as being able to use the Garmin Edge remote. Only downside is that you won't get the beep when reaching the gear limits.

I currently have 21.17 installed. Hopefully this will be fixed in the next firmware update. It was driving me crazy!

  • This is exactly the issue.  How do you "downgrade" the firmware?  Thank you

  • Hi  but please note that the downgrade is equivalent to a factory reset.

Copy the file GUPDATE.GCD into the directory \Garmin of your device, restart the device and answer the questions

  • Solution is updating the sram derailleur, I had the same. Garmin switching from 1x12 to 4x15 gears … after updating derailleur it was solved!

  • It depend for who..  No update available for SRAM RED eTap 2x11!!

  • UPDATE :
As mentioned by @D-Man007,  updating the derailleur with the ;last firmware solve the problem.
For those like me who have a ETAP 11s Derailleur (no AXS) you need to contact directly SRAM support ( [email protected]), and give them your derailleur serial number. (thanks to @aweatherall for the tip )
If your derailleur is eligible (I have a A2 11-speed e-tap rear derailleur) , the support team will provide you the instruction to update your derailleur via the SRAM AXS app.
The support team was very reactive and they gave me very clear instructions.
  • Thanks. Updating the SRAM derailleur worked. I used SRAM AXS mobile app on Android to update the firmware. Model is 12spd AXS Eagle XX1 RD.
