The current GPS version is 11.00.

volker You must at some point have gotten a special GPS version from Garmin. You will need to reach out to whoever gave you that and get them to give an 11.00 build with a force install.

I have no idea from whom/when I got it. Must have been during the period I was testing the1040 for Garmin. Left testing team months (over a year ?) ago and it seems that 22.34 has worked with every  puplic beta since then, except 21.16!!!??? But I can´t remember, which was the lastpublic  beta sw I have used before the 21.16 update.

@aweatherall: perhaps you can sent this thread to Garmin 1040 tester team, because I have no contact to them anymore, so that someone from the tester team can send me a gps v11.00 update file?! Thanks!

Copy the GUPDATE.GCD to the \Garmin folder of the 1040 device and restart the device. Please note: This process is close to a factory reset and will delete many personal files from the 1040 

Thanks for the file. But still the problem with the special gps sw version 22.34. Have to wait for Garmin support.

Good news: got help from Garmin and my Edge 1040 is on the current gps version 11.00 and gps is working fine!

You will find the necessary files here. Please note that a lot of data will be lost if you downgrade. Copy the corresponding GUPDATE.GCD to the root folder \Garmin of the device and unplug the device. It will restart and ask if you want to install the update.
