Issue with Edge 1040 halving power values from structured workout from Training Peaks and Garmin Connect.

Issue with Edge 1040 when riding a structured interval workout from Training Peaks. The 1040 is synced to my Kickr V4. The structured workout featured 1 minute at 264W power and 1minute at 110W Power. The Training Peaks workout populates automatically to my Edge 1040. I selected the workout and everything worked as per the breakdown in training peaks, but each interval changed to 132W power and 55W power. It exactly halved the power as specified in TP. Any solution to this?

  • check the FTP setting in the Edge, it must be the same value like the TP's FTP value

  • Interesting! The 1040 has my FTP set at 240W (which it would be) but Training Peaks has a value of 460W. This reading is being taken off a period where I had a faulty power meter. Cannot see anywhere to adjust? The workout was set at the correct Power values in Training Peaks (specifically 264W and 110W) so still miffed as to why the 1040 was only reading half that?

  • That's not the fault of the Edge 1040, the workout data from TP only contains percentages of your FTP, not absolute Watt values. So you should go to your settings in TP and in Zones/Power change  your threshold.

  • Thanks Jan. I have gone into the desktop version of TP and manually changed the zones and FTP. Will see how it all works when i do my next indoor set.
