Sensor issues

I'm getting entirely fed up with the roulette I have to play every time I go for a ride. My Varia headlight, Varia radar (rtl515), Rally pedals, Assioma pedals and Polar HR monitor (all ANT+) will basically only connect if I have completely power cycled the unit - although it is seemingly entirely random which ones will fail to connect.

An example happened at my event on Sunday. I loaded a route to get to the start line, rode there, saved the activity. All sensors were connected. Then I loaded the event route and started a new activity. My HR monitor connected and my radar connected. However, the rear light, front light and Assioma pedals did not connect - with no indication that this was the case. This is obviously pretty annoying when you start a race only to realize you no longer have power information on your expensive bike computer.

A version of this happens on basically every ride unless I have completely power cycled the unit. I'd say that this is fairly basic functionality for a bike computer. I see that this was spoken about frequently on the forums months ago, but now there is little discussion. Am I alone in still suffering these drop outs/missed connections?

I am on software 20.19.

  • Since posting this, I went back and found this thread from MORE THAN 2 YEARS AGO. It basically describes the problem. One person mentioned a CIQ datafield called Map Dashboard (along with other mentions of other CIQ apps and datafields). I had this installed. I've just uninstalled it and done a quick test with just my lights/radar, and my sensors seem to reconnect without rebooting the entire unit.

In the (again) two year old thread, Garmin-Blake says beta 12.14 fixed the issue. How is it still present 2 years later???

  • Experiencing EXACTLY the same issue on my Edge Explore 2 cycling computer. I never know which sensor will work or not if the unit has slept
