Selected course to follow, pressed "ride", but nothing recorded and can't get rid of blue flashing arrow. Help!

Selected loaded GPX course to follow, pressed "ride", but nothing recorded and can't get rid of blue flashing arrow. 

I can follow the course on the moving map but nothing is being recorded and the big blue "play/arrow" icon is flashing in the middle of the screen. Also constantly beeping until I turned off tones. If I tap the screen the only button option I'm given is "Stop"

Brand new 1040 Solar.

Thanks for any advice.

    The blinking blue arrow means: „you‘re moving but have not started the recording!“

    Press the physical Start Button (right bottom)!

    When finished the activity, press that button again to save the tour!

    Ps: „Ride“ does not start recording. It starts navigation only (with or without turn by turn advices)

    We all know that once you hit the NAV button, the blue arrow/beep stops. I turned 'Self Evaluation' off and it stopped. Sometimes these forums are a joke. Hope it helps.
