How to turn off constant trainer connected message

My Garmin edge 1040 constantly beeps and displays a message trainer connected when I’m at home.  The trainer is plugged in but not in use.  When using the trainer it doesn’t give the message.

i have a wahoo core with the later software.  The 1040 is also up to date with the latest.

  • I have Tacx Flow & Flux trainers and prior to software 20.19 (actually beta 20.14) I would get multiple “Trainer Connected” messages ( and therefore I presume a prior unannounced disconnection) in every indoor ride and these caused the resistance control to stop changing resistance until the end of the ride or a manual disable/enable of the trainer. I did a lot of testing and sent results to Garmin (see boring detail https://forums.garmin.com/beta-program/edge-1040-series/public-beta-bug-reports/i/edge-1040-series---20-xx-bug-reports/20-13-previous-indoor-trainer-resistance-control-stops-following-a-disconnect-re-connect )

Garmin never said the were activity working on this but from beta 20.14 the disconnects reduced and from 20.15 they stopped AS LONG AS the Wi-Fi & Bluetooth was disabled on the 1040 and Wi-Fi & BlueTooth was disabled on my phone, prior to 20.14 it made no difference is these were enabled. I have not had a disconnect of the trainer control in the last month but I still get some power metric disconnects but they don’t affect the trainer control, cadence or speed metrics don’t seem to disconnect like the power.

Your trainer may be different or you might need Wi-Fi & BT connected but give it a go.

I use a disconnectable power strip with my NEO. I don't think it's so good if the electronics are constantly live.

And off topic: I am experiencing your phenomenon with my Tempe sensor. It never switches off by default. The constant peep is so annoying that I have disabled it under Sensors.
