garmin express does not recognize egde 1040

I connect the USB cable to the computer and nothing appears, it doesn't recognize it on the Garmin Express,
I've tried putting it in storage mode, but I can't get the Garmin Express to recognize it or even the computer.
I've already tried two different computers.
  • It could be that the cable you are using is power only cable and not a power and data cable.

    +1. Same problem and using always the original cable.

    Tried delete Garmin Express completely and folders following the procedures from Garmin website and nothing, unable to add the 1040.

    Really disappointed . So many issues like:

    Garmin Express does not recognize edge 1040, unable to add the 1040 even after soft and hard reset.

    4iiii power meter very unstable , constant disconnections.

    Strava segments (no show)

    Does not recognize Varia light Rada.

    Battery drain after last software update.

    No significan issues on my previous 520 and 1030. The 1040 is fast but full of issues as mentioned. Thinking to sell it and try Wahoo.

  • I have none of those problems (diff power meter but have a Varia)

    Yours might be faulty.

  • I have the same issue that my Edge 1040 isn't showing up in Garmin Express. It is in "Mass storage mode" and shows in my MacBook Pro navigation bar. 

    I'm using the original Garmin USB cable.

  • Your cable is fine. Mass storage is good. By windows, garmin express run fine and i have the mass storage at the same time. Try pethaps uninstall and reinstall after rebooting the computer.

    My problem remains unresolved after all this time.

    Garmin is aware but no solution. I have tried everything Garmin has told me and there is no way.

    I don't understand why it only happens to very few users.

  • can you see the 1040 as mass storage ? You tried with another cable ? Another computer ?

  • Reinstalled Garmin Express, which did not help. I could reconnect my forerunner 945 with the same USB cable without any issues. But it still doesn't connect to my Edge 1040. 
    I'm 100% sure the connection is oké, because in finder my Edge shows up. 

  • Yes, cable is ok, it's a Garmin Express problem. you tried on a windows computer ? Perhaps Basecamp ? Basecamp use the same driver ...
