I observed an error in determining climbs through ClimbPro functions. Based on the statement that one picture is better than 1,000 words please take a look at the following photo.
The green line shows the actual bicycle route - it is at the same level for its entire length of the bridge - its height relative to the ground does not change until a certain point. Below with a red line I have marked the profile of the ground running under this route marked in green. You can see that from the river bank the height of the line increases - first from the bank to the roadway, then behind the roadway it climbs up the slope of the embankment again.
What does the Garmin do when driving along the route marked in green ? Yes, on reaching the river bank it informs us of the approaching climb, and then starts the ClimbPro function when we are exactly on the river bank....
I observed this error on several bridges over which the bike route passes. In the above example we are riding a few meters above ground level, no less the device knows perfectly well the height we are at, and from DEM maps it should know at what height the ground is.... On another bridge where the situation is very similar I'm riding about 15-20 meters above ground level, what's more - at the end of the bridge there is a slope/descent - meanwhile ClimbPro which restarts at the river bank claims that we are riding up, when in fact we are just descending.
This is shown in the screenshot below - the green line is the bike path - the direction of travel ( as in the previous example) from right to left. The blue transverse dashes indicate where the path descends - a descent of 100-150 meters in length. The red line, on the other hand, is ClimbPro - according to it, we ride on the ground from the edge so we increase the height relative to the ground. The difference between in height between the green path and the red relief is 20 meters
