I am following up on this blocked conversation,

is there any reason to block this discussion at Garmin?
Mine had the same problem, with all types of chargers and cables, so it would no longer recharge and when it reached 0%, it decided to recharge correctly without overheating with different chargers and cables.
However, when it got to around 25%, it had the same overheating problem again, so I sent the 1040 back to Garmin, who sent me a brand new one in 15 days, thanks to them!
I think more of electronic failures of the GPS and now I am always careful to charge it when I am present at home, and you will agree that it is not very comfortable.
This 1040 does not leave our minds free with all the problems of repeated bugs and always so slow updates to come...
In any case, let's hope that this overheating anomaly does not recur later, or to other people when it is out of warranty.
It's been 25 years that I've only bought Garmin GPS products, and this one is on the top step of the podium for the worst GPS in terms of bugs and updates that don't correct anything, worse which adds problems. bugs.
Garmin initially sold us a 1040 which consumed 2% per hour, now it's 4% per hour without any application installed, just through updates, so we lost 50% of battery life simply through work. garmin engineers to try to make this 1040 stable.
Today I'm going to ride in the rain, and I know in advance that it's going to be complicated, that the 1040's screen will freeze, and that the elevation will be totally wrong...
I had 2 GPS 1040s and both had exactly the same problems.
