I was getting burned quite often with alerts not coming thru my headphones on rides. So I started doing a "test run" beforehand by go to hit Alert Volume before the rides to ensure the bike cpu, phone, and headphones all liked each other. If I hear the test voice by touching Alert Volume, all will be fine on the ride.

However, the workaround is useless if I forget to test the Alert Volume before the ride. If I start and there is no sound, I am stuck for the remainder of the ride with no alert sounds. Music is fine and phone notifications are fine. The only way to get the Alerts for the 1040 back are to reboot the phone and that is hard to do on paceline rides with no stops.
I would like to know how to get the alerts to work again with the 1040 without rebooting the phone. Is there a Garmin service I can restart or a secret button inside the Connect app that resets Connect? Restarting Bluetooth does not work. Only a phone reboot gets the alerts working again. There is a Garmin Connect toast notification that shows every time I reboot the phone and I wonder if whatever that service is can be restarted without restarting the phone? I have an Android.
