Respiration data in 1040 FIT file?

Hello folks, subject says it all. I'm trying to figure out if the Edge 1040 records the respiration rate and saves the data in the FIT file.

Can anyone verify if it does or does not and how it can be found? That will be all. Thank you.

  • Obviously it does , otherwise you cant get respiration charts Slight smile

there is a record name "xxx108" in the file for every seconds (if the recording rate is every sec and not smart), its value is the respiration rate , if it is 1643 then the respiration rate is 16, if it is 2378, then 24.

you need to extract the FIT file to a readable format (fit to csv , there are a few online converters, google for it) and after that you can easily collect these respiration records.

  • Thank you for that information. I was thinking that perhaps the respiration rate is kept in the HRM and then applied after the workout via GC.

I don't keep the respiration stat on my unit and only look at it via Garmin connect so I didn't have much information to go on.

Once again, thanks for the info!
