Big variations charging time (Edge 1040)

Dear Comunity,

I´m wondering, I find my edge sometimes charging within 2,5h sometimes over 8-10h.

I´m not sure yet, but it seems it is related with chargin with the device ON or charging with the device OFF.

Does anyone has experience or feedback?

Thank you

  • Yes, there is a difference in charging current if turned on or off.

    With my wall charger:
-device turned on: up to 0,5 Ampere
-device turned off: app. 0,26 Ampere

I always turn off my device after charging has started. If turned on, it gets warm (not hot).

  • Thanks for your fast feedback, it´s well appreciated. So I guess a slower charger and lower temperature will extend batery life, right?

Have you noticed any difference on the batery performance when charged quickly (device ON @ 0,5A) vs slower (device OFF @ 0,26A)?

No… but I mostly charge slow.

  • i think it is some kind of design fail, i remember somebody made a comparisons about the used charging modes and shared here. the best way imho for charging is the normal computer usb socket , these new x40 series cant handle well the different fast charging protocols (or the chargers identify wrongly the device and used not the right charging mode) and with mobile phone chargers the charging performance is heavily decreased (probably set it to a safe mode with lowest charging voltage/amper).

  • Thank you for the detailed feedback
