Edge 1040 Solar, zoom icons still visible in the map

Hi, my question is:
Why are the zoom icons still visible in the map navigation?? Is there a way to "turn it off"?

I think it's unnecessary and confusing to keep it visible.

Why is it not the same as the Edge 1030 Pro?

Thanks for the response.

  • I think it's more useful like it is now avoiding double tapping when zoom is needed. it's not disturbing like now as you are never riding in that corner.

  • There is certainly an argument supporting the immediacy of access to the + & - symbols but my course almost always exits the top of the screen through the hand symbol, hiding that part of the course. While I might tap a + / - on the go I will never  use the hand symbol without stopping first as I am likely to spend a while with it.  I would prefer the hand symbol to be moved from the center-top or remain off screen unless I tap the screen first or some other action as I am likely to spend minutes using this function to "find" something on the map. The screen tapping functions (stop / pause course / navigation, bring up home screen, engage backlight etc is a bit complicated and needs to be better thought out, IMO

  • I would like the opposite, that is to say making + and - bigger. They are difficult to hit especially with gloves.
