Edge 1040 Solar, zoom icons still visible in the map

Hi, my question is:
Why are the zoom icons still visible in the map navigation?? Is there a way to "turn it off"?

I think it's unnecessary and confusing to keep it visible.

Why is it not the same as the Edge 1030 Pro?

    I think it's more useful like it is now avoiding double tapping when zoom is needed. it's not disturbing like now as you are never riding in that corner.

    There is certainly an argument supporting the immediacy of access to the + & - symbols but my course almost always exits the top of the screen through the hand symbol, hiding that part of the course. While I might tap a + / - on the go I will never  use the hand symbol without stopping first as I am likely to spend a while with it.  I would prefer the hand symbol to be moved from the center-top or remain off screen unless I tap the screen first or some other action as I am likely to spend minutes using this function to "find" something on the map. The screen tapping functions (stop / pause course / navigation, bring up home screen, engage backlight etc is a bit complicated and needs to be better thought out, IMO

    I would like the opposite, that is to say making + and - bigger. They are difficult to hit especially with gloves.
