Ideally browsing files on my 1040 I was comparing the differences between the Classic, Mountain, HighContrast & PopularityHighContrast KMTF (maptheme) files. Most appear logical relating to the different map color elements for different themes. While only the Classic & Pop(ularity)HighContrast themes have "Populatity" elements I noticed some parameters in the PopHC elements I had not noticed before and which gave me hope I might be able to do some useful customisation of map elements especially to make the Course Follow line ("MPM_ACTV_CRS_CLR") thicker.
There are hundreds of MapTheme elements but only 7, the MPM_POPULARITY_1_CLR to MPM_POPULARITY_7_CLR elements, have the bg_width & fg_width parameters and I can't see what changes they cause if I select this Theme nor can I see any changes if I try to use the parameters on the MPM_ACTV_CRS_CLR element (to make the line thicker, easier to see.)
<style field="MPM_POPULARITY_1_CLR" bg_width="-1" fg_width="50">
<color>
<primary day="#ffb0b0b0" night="#ffb0b0b0"/>
<secondary day="#00f8fcf8" night="#00f8fcf8"/>
</color>
</style>
I put 10, 25, 40, 50 & 100 in the bg/fg-width parameters but could see no difference. While we have successfully changed the color of the course follow line and location cursor I would also like to make the line thicker and cursor bigger. The Car/motor bike GPS devices that originated the Garmin MapThemes framework have parameters for "SCALE" & "BORDER" that permit increasing the course follow line thickness and the Location Cursor size but these don't exist in the EDGE devices version, I thought the BG/FG_Width might be the Edge equivalents.
So does anyone have a clue what these do and are they any use or maybe just a Garmin "mistake"? Thanks
