Audio prompt for Speed/pace always gives pace

I am having the same problem... it seems the system has a bug and will not provide Agb=v speed 

I am having the same problem for the last few months...I have the most up-to-date software and still nit sorted come on guys get this sorted

Yeh pretty shocking that his not been fixed yet. I haven't yet mastered the pace to speed coversion formula! What gets me is that sometimes the pace is announced in minutes. What's that all about?

So annoying. I liked having the speed announcement.

Hallelujah it’s fixed at last today 02/04/2024 with a software update. Version 21.11 fixes the problem. 

which model do you have because there are no software updates for the 1040 Solar???? we are still on 20.17

@gazglasgow is referring to the beta program. It has its own board, where beta issues should be discussed, but it's relevant here inasmuch as it's a heads-up that a fix should be implemented in the next release. 

(I can only dream of possessing the kind of bravery it takes to install anything Garmin actually regards as still being in beta...)

Yes of course I forgot that I enrolled in the beta program but when I initially responded I wasn’t using beta software. I first noticed this issue in November 2023 and it has taken until April 2024 to get it fixed. I just hope that it doesn’t get broken again in a future release as that has happened before for other issues. 

When I purchased the 1040 solar last year I immediately noticed another issue that nobody else reported and that has been fixed too. 

I use the device primarily for navigation. In a large city it is easy to get disorientated and I like to use the compass to immediately get my current heading so that I can head in the correct direction to the city centre for example. I use the edge remote and programmed a long press of the action key to “Show Compass”. I used to use this function a lot with my Edge 830. I couldn’t believe my eyes that all of the long press operations were available with the 1040 except “Show Compass”. They missed this out despite it being shown in the owners manual. It’s been fixed in 21.11 which is great.
