1040 19.22 rebooting endlessly

Hi, I just bought my 1040 and after upgrading to 19.19 it started to reobot endlessly. After managing to go bak to 18.25 it appeared to work fine during the first ride after which I turned it off. I turned it on today and started to reboot again, during the reboot it asked to upgrade to 19.22, and so I did, but nothing changed and it still rebooting endlessly!

Completely disappointed with such an expensive devices and regret the upgrade from the 530.

Reading on this forum it appears that also previous SW version were affected by this rebooting, anyone can help?

  • I would recommend resetting your device to factory settings (System > Device Reset > Delete Data and Reset Settings) and see if it helps. Note that it will remove all your data from the device. But if it's a new device and you downloaded you activities or synced them to Garmin Connect, it might not be a big deal.

    If this does not help and your new device is rebooting endlessly at different software versions despite clearing all user data, I think I would ask for replacement as it seems faulty. Contact your seller or Garmin support directly.

  • Thanks for your reply. I started with resetting the device without deleting all data but it didn't solve the issue. After wiping out all data as well, as you recommended, and not relying on the automatic setup from the last configuration stored in my account (that means installing each sensor one by one and rebuilding the profiles setting manually) it stops rebooting. I didn't have the opportunity yet to test it on a ride but seems stable after several power off / power on.

  • That's great to hear. If the problem comes back at any point, I would recommend using Garmin-Blake's offer to collect additional data for Garmin engineers, so they can address the issue. In fact, they might still be able to look at your data and settings and conclude something, if you give them permission. You might want to respond to Garmin-Blake on this forum or in a private message.

  • I have the same reboot - restart problem with 1040 solar with sw v 19.22. Has anyone found any other solution to fix this other than resetting the device? I am really not willing to do that as I have a lot of profiles and settings which I am not really not willing to lose.
