Transferring IQ apps from a 1030 plus to 1040

I am trying to transfer all of the settings, custom fields, etc. from an older 1030 plus to a new 1040. I noticed that data screens are transferred but customs fields and other IQ apps are not. Is there a simple way to go into the file structure of the old Garmin and copy files to the newer device or must all the IQ apps be downloaded again and reconfigured. Also asking because some of my preferred older data fields can no longer be located in the IQ store.

  • The „official“ way is, to download all datafields from the store anew and do the settings.

If there is a datafield not available for 1040 anymore you can try:
    datafields are stored in /Garmin/Apps/Media
according settings are stored in /Garmin/Apps/Settings
Datafields and settings have the same encrypted name and ending PRG or SET.
You can find the clear name for the datafields in the /Garmin/Garmindevice.xml.
You can copy and paste this PRG and SET files to the new device, but it is not for sure it will work and it is not for sure that you can change settings.
